The Uitenhage High School drama society is a group of young, talented people who are artistic and passionate about story-telling and the arts. It is led by educators who see potential and strive to inspire young students to master their craft.

They are inspired and guided by Shafizo Khumalo who heads the Linga Creatives group. As a team this group has achieved great success and were chosen to represent the Province at the Ibhayi Schools Festival in Cape Town this year. The society gives our students a platform to be authentic, free spirited and to dream big. We also groom and empower young aspiring performers and encourage them to be ambitious and to expand their vision for the future.

Debating is something that we at Uitenhage High School give great importance to because it provides our students with a valuable educational activity that enriches their lifestyle. Debating not only strengthens character but also encourages and improves certain skills which include; public speaking, improved research skills, analysis, persuasion, to listen and to advocate and to work in a team. We also value the importance of addressing complex issues that we face In society today.

Uitenhage High Debating Society encourages students to become critical thinkers who can formulate opinions that is befitting of the school’s values. Our Debate Society is a perfect example of what it means to embody the spirit of Uitenhage High, Perseverando Vincimus, even when facing tough competition, we hold our heads up high, persevere and overcome all obstacles in our way.

ECO-LIMITED

Uitenhage High School Eco Ltd was established by learners in 2009. They felt that the need for this organisaton. The whole school could work together.

Uhs Eco Ltd comprises of teachers, learners & community members. It is an Environment friendly organisation trying to instill values of preserving our environment for the future. It consists mostly of learners eager to make a positive contribution to society. It was started in 2009 by a small group of learners under the leadership of Kaylene Devine. Up to now it has grown very well. Our school joined Wessa & Eco schools in 2010 & have received various awards for our enviro projects & contributions with our subject lessons according to the Caps documents ever since. We are not where we want to be but the learners try their best to adhere to their mission & vision. All learners are welcome. We also endevour to organise hikes, team building activities, recycling, cleanups, assist the Interact club with a soup kitchen/ snack attack & tree planting. One of our projects for 2016 is to beautfy our school’s main entrance with water wise plants that will bring back aesthetic value & pride. We focussed in planting Spekboom & Aloe so far. Our aim is to use our water tank to sustain our garden. We are hoping to move from strength to strength.

The Interact club at Uitenhage High School is a society dedicated to helping others in any shape and form. The team organizes several projects every year that help build a strong sense of pride and community amongst members. Rotary club sponsors and guide Interactor members as they carry out their projects and develop leadership skills .




CHRISTIAN LEARNERS

These days it is difficult to build a relationship with the Lord. There is a lot of sin in the world and it is being seen as something normal. We want to teach our learners to build a relationship with the Lord and to show them who He is through worshiping and praying, bible study and even sharing testimonies with each other. We want to show them the softness of the Lord Jesus, the love that He has for us and the peace that He gives us as children of the living God.




MUSLIM LEARNERS

MUSLIM ASSOCIATION:

AIMS AND PURPOSES

  • The MA shall be a non-profit, non-political organization.
  • The purpose of the MA is to serve the best interest of Islam and of
  • Muslim learners at the school.
  • The objectives are to provide Muslim learners with a means to practice and promote Islamic teaching according to the Quran.
  • The Muslim Association seeks to preserve the learner’s identity and to facilitate meetings, discussions and to celebrate holy
  • Islamic months and festivities among all learners.
  • It promotes females to wear hijabs.
  • The MA will strive to represent Islam at school, promote friendly relations among the learners and provide Islamic education to
  • Muslim and non-Muslims in the form of lectures, Islamic literature and more.
